Consider this: should society condone suicide for reasons other than terminal illness? What about the blind, dumb paraplegic--perfectly healthy despite not being able to see, hear or move)? Does he have the right to die? Should we condone his choosing suicide? If so, where would we draw the line? Would it also be okay for the recently widowed elderly woman who no longer wants to live? For the recent victim of a rape who feels she can't go on?

You've built a reasonable argument. But, here are a few questions about the individual pieces we were trying to identify in this exercise:

1) Data: The data must be a piece of evidence: a fact, an example, a statistic, expert or personal testimony. Your data is actually commentary--your opinions.

2) <b>Warrant & Backing/b>: What part of your argument make up these pieces?

We like your parallelism with "ing" and saying the author uses it as a "hypnotizing" effect, but how does your personification tie into sentence structure?

A wonderful sampling of varying blogs you've given us. I'd love to see the pic of the gas prices for an arm, leg, and first born. Think you might add a link to that specific post?

Zach, now you have the space of your whole blog to express all your views! No 1500 word limit here if you don't want!

Thanks to all of you who are reading this for taking the stands you took on some of these very controversial topics. You are blessed to be at this point in your lives and be comfortable with and knowledgable about the various sides to such issues.

Keep standing! (Unless it's a time when you should be sitting in your seat...especially in class! :) )

To all who have commented on my paper thus far,

Please don't think that I am homophobic or hate gay people. I don't. I simply disagree with everything that supports gay marriage. And I really appreciate Casey and Jd's comment where they questioned why I came at it from a Christian only, when it came down to it there was just a space crunch and mrs. gillmore told me to narrow it down to view instead of the original 3 (christian, atheist, gay) I thank you for commenting.

Hey Zach
I agree with you that gay marriage is wrong, but i also don't have a problem with any gay people i know. Gay marriage is wrong in the eyes of God, but what about those who don't believe in God, or have a different religion? I honestly also don't think that someone is born gay. They chose their homosexuality sometime in their life.

Your stand is very strong in the Christian faith, which is definately good. However, I agree with JD. Your audience could be boarder if you tie this in with secular sources as well.

I personally do not take a stand when it comes to gay marriage. I'm not against it, nor do I support it. I honestly don't know what it feels like to be in love with another male, as most heterosexuals wouldn't. Just because I don't feel that "love", doesn't mean that other males don't though.

I try to think of it this way. Let's say that you were truly in love with this girl. But it seemed that every being, every factor of your life - government, religion, society completely restrained you from loving this girl. Try putting that situation in a parallel, homosexual circumstance. Should they go even more heart-broken and feel more worthless than they already do for the remainder of their lives? Love is free!

I believe that most heterosexual relationships of our era are just as tainted and sinful as the homosexual ones, so none of really have any room to talk or act. Our society has become so sexual that it's nearly impossible for any of use to achieve the love or sexuality that God really intended for us.

I agree like all the other comments, but there is definitely another side to the argument. Many people are gay and protest and protest and protest for marriage rights and some are not even Christians, which takes god's perspective out of the picture.
